Food Justice, Food Education, and Food Literacy: A Food Literacy Month Celebration

Festivities kick off at the Central Library with a panel discussion in the auditorium, introduced by special guest Chef Eduardo Jordan from Salare Restaurant—named among the Best New Chef in America by Food & Wine. The panel will be moderated by Philip Lee from Readers to Eaters, and will include a lively discussion with:

- Catholic Charities Spokane / WA State Farmers Market Association, Brian Estes

- Danny Woo Garden/FoodWays Project, Mei Yook Woo

- Farestart, Michael Friedman

- Hillman City Collaboratory, Tarik Abdullah

- King County Library System, Cecilia McGowan

- Muckleshoot Food Sovereignty Project, Valerie Segrest

The day continues in the Living Room with local food organizations leading table discussions on food justice, food education, and food literacy. Each table will feature specially prepared local food by Chef Ariel Bangs.

Finally, don't miss the Teen Center activities as well, planned by the Central Library’s Teen Service Learning Group with refreshments donated by Chipotle.
