Join Slow Food Seattle on a delicious fall field trip to Finnriver Cider in Chimacum on the Olympic Peninsula.

Sunday, September 24
Slow Food tour, lunch & tasting: 12pm-3pm

Slow Food Seattle first visited Finnriver Cider in 2013, and we're delighted to return to their new orchard and tasting pavillion.

Here's a hint of what we love about Finnriver:

Finnriver farms and ferments on 80 acres of organic farm and orchard in Chimacum, along a restored salmon stream on the north Olympic Peninsula of Washington.  While our farm is remote, we're honored to be on the forefront of the Pacific Northwest hard cider revival and we are committed to producing both traditional and innovative hard ciders using premium, organic ingredients while maintaining an authentically farmcrafted and land-based operation.  We source organic apples from across Washington state and grow our own organic orchard of over 5,500 trees, with 20 varieties of heirloom and traditional cider apple varieties.  We aspire to serve the land with cider,  by caring for our soils, watershed and community while crafting award-winning premium ciders.

For our Slow Food visit, we'll take a private tour and learn about the history of Finnriver and its connection to the larger food and farming community.

After our tour, our Slow Food group will lunch together in the tasting pavilion. You can pre-order a seasonal wood-fired pizza from Dented Buoy (please see notes below in the pricing section regarding options), and owner John Shelley will speak with our group about his ingredient sourcing for this very locally-grown pizza. While we will only be doing pre-orders for the pizza, Hama Hama Oysters and Quimper Crepe Cart will also be onsite and you can buy and enjoy from them directly.

After lunch, we'll have a guided tasting of six Finnriver ciders. You can also order other ciders on tap, and buy from their bottle shop.

After our event, you are welcome to stay and enjoy live music (playing from 2-5pm) in the pavilion, play lawn games, or stroll back into the orchard.
